Background Information:

The Ed & Toni King Scholarship Fund has been established with the Dickinson State University Foundation by Ed & Toni King of Dickinson. This $5,000 endowment has been established to generate income for a scholarship which will be awarded to a student in need of assistance.

Ed & Toni King are North Dakota natives. They grew up and attended school in Dickinson and have been residents of Dickinson most of their lives.

Ed is a graduate of Dickinson High School in 1934 and Toni attended Dickinson State College and taught school in the Dickinson area. Ed started work in the grocery business after graduation. In 1941 Ed & Toni continued in the grocery business and became owners and managers of King's Super Market, a Super Valu franchise store. In 1961 they built a new modern store at 302 1st Street East which is now known as King's Shoppers Plaza. In December of 1979 they sold the retail food business to Dan's County Market of Bismarck, North Dakota.

William Goetz, past Executive Vice President of the DSU Foundation, said that Ed & Toni King's dedication in business expressed in committed service to people and community over the years reflects an ingredient critical to our society.
